Last fall, students at Princeton University began occupying the most progressive collection of buildings built by any American university in the last half century. The buildings carry none of the gimmicks of contemporary architecture. They are not in "green style," but are greener than many that are, and, at a construction cost of $450 per square foot, they dash the myth that traditional projects are budget-busters.

CONGRESS OF NEW URBANISM AWARDS FOR 2008
The awarded projects are found in the U.S. and four other countries: the Bahamas, India, Saudi Arabia, and Scotland. The awards will be presented on April 5, 2008 in conjunction with the 16th Congress for the New Urbanism in Austin.

Det første Barcode-bygget i Bjørvika innfrir ikke målene i Miljøoppfølgingsplanen. Glassbygget PWC er det første bygget i Barcode-utbyggingen. Bellona mener bygget er milevis unna å være et foregangsprosjekt. Vi kan ikke si at vi er såå forundret.

PRINCE CHARLES ON PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT
To revolutionise the way we build, we must use responsibly sourced local materials. Mixed-use should be seen as the norm, rather than an exception in urban development. It would make a dramatic difference, both socially and environmentally, if developers could understand and promote the value of building a network of interconnected streets lined with a mix of houses, shops and businesses. We need to argue for communities no longer being designed around the car, but around the pedestrian.
