En gammel industrieiendom på Vålerenga forvandles til idyllisk rekkehusgrend. Husene har likhetstrekk med den gamle trehusbebyggelsen.
Vi ønsket å bygge noe som var trivelig og hyggelig. Vi valgte å legge oss tett opp til den gamle Vålerenga-bebyggelsen i stil, sier Petter Aas i Thorleif Aas & Sønner ANS.

INTBAU har sendt ut en Call for Papers for INTBAUs konferanse i Venezia 2. - 5. november 2006, der temaer vil være Venezia-charteret og behovet for å supplere charteret med bl.a. prinsipper for rekonstruksjon av tapte bygninger og anvendelse av tradisjonell arkitektur og byform ved nybygging i tilknytning til historiske bygningsmiljøer.

BUILD MORE TOWNS IN STOCKHOLM!
Build more towns in Stockholm! That is the message in the report ìAddress the lack of towns in Stockholm!î from the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce. With the issuance of the report, the Chamber wants to rekindle the debate about residential construction in Stockholm by giving concrete examples of new construction and challenging Stockholm Cityís decision to not allow building on formerly undeveloped ground. The report and its recommendations were written by Jerker Söderlind, Architect, MSA and Doctor of Technology with the Royal Institute of Technology, Centrumfunktion.

CITIES OF STONE EXHIBITION
The Venice Biennale Foundation extends an open invitation to take part at the selection for the "Cities of Stone" Exhibition directed by Professor Claudio D'Amato, organized as part of the 10th International Architecture Exhibition.
The topic involves a group of design proposals for the South of Italy (Project South), specially prepared for the Venice Biennale, which aims to restore the coastal landscape of four southern Italian cities. Each project requires the demolition of unsightly buildings on the selected sites,

CONGRESS OF NEW URBANISM 2006
The congress will be held June 1 - 4, 2006 in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. This year, the attention of the Congress will turn to a timely theme: Developing the New Urbanism.
Developing the New Urbanism will focus on implementation and will highlight the role of the New Urbanist developer. Development is the choreography of diverse disciplines, many of which have been advanced by the New Urbanism. Until this point, however, CNU has not devoted enough attention to New Urbanist developers and to the ways in which we can best infuse New Urbanist principles into the development process. CNU XIV will shift the focus from those who plan and design to those who implement, so that we may begin to systematically increase the numbers and quality of those practitioners who develop New Urbanist buildings and places.
Registration will open March 1st, 2006. To attend, you have to be a member of Congress for the New Urbanism.
