SOMMARI E RELAZIONI / ABSTRACTS AND PAPERS:
Il sommario delle relazioni scritte che si desidera presentare (max. 10 righe in
italiano e inglese) deve essere inviato all’ Organizzazione entro e non oltre il
10.9.1999. L’accettazione verrà notificata entro il 10.10.1999. La relazione (max.
10 cartelle A4, illustrazioni comprese) dovrà essere inviata in disco formato Word 5.1
per Mac e copia stampata secondo il formato, il corpo e i caratteri che verranno
specificati. Per ragioni editoriali si garantisce la pubblicazione solo nel caso di
assoluto rispetto delle scadenze e delle modalità d’impaginazione. /
The abstract of the paper has to be mailed (max. 10 lines in English and Italian) to
the Organization by September 10, 1999. The answer concerning the acceptance of the paper
will be notified on October 10, 1999. The paper (max. 10 pages in A4 format, including
pictures) has to be delivered on a diskette formatted as Word 5.1 for Mac together with a
printed copy, following the guidelines which will be specified. For editorial reasons, the
publication of the paper is guaranteed only if it strictly follow the printing guidelines.

essere inviata, contestualmente alla relazione, entro il 15 Dicembre 1999 / A 350,000 Lit.

The International Conference is particularly dedicated to:

The Conference will be articulated in 4 main sessions with debates and
panel discussions.
1st SESSION - A CENTURY OF ARCHITECTURE. AND NOW?
A serene and critical assesment on either what has been designed or
built, and all what has not been done. The experiences, the initiatives, the competitions,
out of both the official history and academy.
The possible methods, legislation acts, and regulations for the future
of the building activities.
2nd SESSION - ARCHITECTURE:
FROM THE CLASSROOM TO THE CONSTRUCTION SITE.
The cultural and professional education of the TECHNICAL CONSULTANT; as
architect or engineer. The new areas in the design and construction fields. From the 19th
century Schools to the 3rd Millennium ones: academic curricula, teaching methods,
professional standards. Laws and regulations for the profession around the world,
individual and associate practices. The intellectual work.
3rd SESSION - THE ARCHITECTURE OF THE CITY:
VISIONS, FAILURES, PERSPECTIVES.
Relations of vital continuity of the urban space: the contemporary city
and the city of tomorrow for the HUMAN BEING and the CIVIL SOCIETY. Recent experiences of
urban re-qualification in Paris, London, New York, San Francisco, Alessandria, Berlin. The
new towns in the United States and Canada. Projects and strategies for the construction of
the new architecture of the city.
4th SESSION - ARCHITECTURE AND CULTURE OF THE MATERIAL
Functions, caracteristics, and uses of the construction materials
between tradition and innovations. Consolidation, transformation and evolution of the
construction techiques related to the use of traditional and new materials. What kind of
razionalization in the building process for the city of tomorrow? Roles, intervention
options, and responsibilities of the developers.
